Friday (Optional extra night at Milford House)

Next morning you'll meet your group for breakfast at the Milford House dining room, followed by the arrival of the rest of the group!

Saturday 930am

Rendezvous with your fellow lady campers at the legendary Milford House and meet your guide, Carlene! She'll lead you through a session on maps and navigation for paddlers (compass, gps, cellphones, satellite), backcountry gear essentials, help you pack your canoes and then teach some some paddle strokes for handling the canoe. Next you'll be heading off to a secluded lake for portaging tips and a gourmet lunch! There will be some excellent swimming spots along the way!

Afternoon topics could include: backcountry etiquette, portaging etiquette, backcountry safety (wildlife, weather), backcountry cuisine, tarpology, and campsite set up!

Group participation in preparing dinner, followed by dessert, story telling, and, weather permitting, star-gazing paddle on Boot Lake.

Sunday 8am

Backcountry breakfast in the AM, strike camp and head off for a morning of exploring one of the most beautiful lakes in Nova Scotia. You'll find a nice spot on the lake for your last lunch together, before paddling back to Milford House, quick wrap-up and goodbye's!

Don't worry, we will provide you with clean drinking water (and one of our cool Whynot Adventure 1000ml/32oz water bottles)and the bugs are never so bad you won't have fun (September has little to no bugs!). Also there will be a private thunder box at the camp site. Oh, and we take coffee seriously. It’s french press in the backcountry, with a locally roasted bean. We grind at the campsite for freshness.
